Can you hear the sweet swoosh of a basketball sail​ing through the net or the joyful conversations at a family reunion? If you can imagine, you can see some of the benefits of having an event center in Rocky Mount....

...and you’re not alone.

In fact, you can already pre-book an event with the 165,000 square foot Rocky Mount Event Center before its scheduled opening this fall. The Event Center’s schedule is already quickly filling up, and if you’re interested, you should hurry up and make a reservation, according to information from the Rocky Mount Telegram.

It will feature:

  • Eight basketball courts
  • 16 volleyball courts
  • An indoor ropes course
  • A family fun zone
  • Seating for more than 4,000
  • A clip and climb wall
  • A video arcade
  • Classrooms for leadership classes

In addition, there will be a Family Entertainment Center with a “Game Day Adventure and Arcade” with:

  • Ballocity
  • Indoor rope climbing
  • Arcade games with redemption
  • Clip n’ Climb themed rock climbing walls
  • Four party rooms to host birthday parties
  • Concessions

It will also have banquet rooms for all social events, weddings and parties with in-house catering.

The latest updates on the Rocky Mount Event Center

  • A logo and branding message (“The Center of it All”) has been approved. You can view it at the website created for the Rocky Mount Event Center.
  • The site also features several construction photos so you can see the progress unfold.
  • Better yet, take in a bird’s eye view of the event center with online drone footage.
  • According to an article in the Rocky Mount Telegram, all indicators are that the center will be completed on time and under budget.
  • More than 9,000 cubic yards of dirt had to be removed to ensure that the ground was sturdy enough to support the large structure.
  • Basketball goals have already been installed.
  • Concrete pouring is completed, and all the steel for the building has been delivered.

Also in the Telegram article, Charles Penny, retired city manager, told the city council that the initial plan is for the event center to host 18 events in its first year. Already, state and national organizations have expressed interest in the venue.
